Custom Resin Phone Cases — Your Charms, Our Factory

Short version: you send the charms, we mould the recessed shell and set every piece by hand under clear resin. No tooling charge on stock shells, 100 pcs per model, and a line that runs 1,000–3,000 pieces a day.

What “resin” means here — and what it does not

A resin case is not a printed case. Printing — UV, IMD, sublimation, water transfer — puts a flat image on a surface. Resin does the opposite: it builds a physical layer.

Your charms sit inside a recess cut into the back of the case, and clear epoxy is poured over them until the surface is flush. Once cured, the charms are sealed under a solid dome. You can feel the flowers through it. You can see depth. A photograph can be printed; a rose cannot.

If you are looking for printed artwork instead, start from our decoration methods overview. If you want real objects sealed into a case, read on.

The recess decides what fits

Anyone can glue charms onto a flat case. The result lifts at the edges within weeks, because there is nothing holding the resin in place. Clear epoxy shrinks as it cures, and without a wall around it the dome curls up and separates.

So every case we resinate starts as a recessed shell — a shallow walled cavity on the back that holds the resin while it cures and sets the finished thickness. Ours run 0.6 mm to 1.2 mm deep. That number is the most useful thing you can know before you choose your charms:

  • A charm thicker than 1.2 mm will not sit flush. It will stand proud of the resin line, or the pour will not cover it. Either the design works around shallower parts, or we talk about a different construction.
  • A charm under about 0.6 mm needs care too. Very thin pieces — flat rhinestones, foil shapes — can float or shift when the resin goes in, and have to be tacked down first.

Send one physical sample of your thickest charm and we will tell you in a sentence whether the standard recess takes it. That answer costs nothing and saves a wasted run.

One line, from mould to finished case

Most businesses in this category sit on one side of a gap. A craft workshop places charms beautifully but buys shells from someone else, so your order waits on a shell supplier’s schedule and nobody owns the finish. A shell factory moulds the case but will not touch hand assembly.

We do both. The recessed shells come off our own moulding floor, so the recess depth is consistent from the tool rather than from whichever blank happened to be in stock. Models cover Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO and vivo — current and recent generations. Send the exact model and we confirm from stock the same day.

Nobody upstream can undercut us on shells, because there is no upstream.

Why volume is the hard part, not the craft

Setting charms by hand is not difficult. Doing it a thousand times, consistently enough, on a deadline, is where most suppliers fail.

Our line runs 1,000 to 3,000 pieces a day, depending on how many elements go into each case. A single flower with two pearls moves fast; a fifteen-element floral cluster with a strap does not.

That capacity changes what you can order. A craft seller can take your 20-piece sample; we can take the 300-piece restock that follows it, in the same week, without changing the process or the finish.

It also changes the calendar. AB epoxy cures at room temperature over roughly a day, so cure time — not assembly time — sets lead time on large runs. We plan rack space around your delivery date instead of promising a number we cannot hold.

How the process runs

  1. Shell. A recessed shell in your model, moulded here. No tooling charge.
  2. Surface finish. Base colour, plating or print goes on first — the resin is transparent, so everything underneath stays visible.
  3. Placement. Each charm is set by hand and tacked in position so nothing floats when the resin goes in.
  4. Encapsulation. Clear AB epoxy poured to fill the recess, de-aerated, left to cure. On short runs and thin layouts we use UV resin instead — it sets in seconds under a lamp, but only in thin layers.
  5. Trim, inspect, pack. Flash removed, surface checked for bubbles and lifted edges.

If your design needs a body we do not hold — a sculpted shape, a specific bezel, a colour we cannot match — the shell has to be moulded. That is a separate conversation with its own tooling cost, quoted before anything is committed.

The one thing we will not promise

No two pieces are identical. Placement is by hand and resin moves slightly as it cures. On a 100-piece run, charm positions will vary by a millimetre or two, and the resin surface will not be optically perfect on every unit.

We are telling you before you order, not after. It is also part of why this product sells: buyers in this category are paying for a hand-made object, not a printed one. But if your brand standard needs pixel-identical units, resin is the wrong process and we will say so.

What we do guarantee: every piece passes bubble and lift inspection, and any unit with a charm sitting outside its recess or a lifted edge is rejected before packing. Set the tolerance you can live with in writing, and we work to it.

How long it stays clear

Clear epoxy yellows under UV. Sunlight and bright indoor light both do it, and it shows first on light-coloured designs and white backgrounds. That is a property of the material, not a defect we can design away.

Three things reduce it, and you should ask for all three:

  • A UV-stabilised resin rather than a standard casting grade.
  • A colour base that does not rely on white.
  • A design where the resin layer is thin — a shallow dome yellows less noticeably than a deep pour.

We run standard clear AB epoxy on production volumes and UV resin on short runs. If you need a UV-stabilised grade, say so at quoting stage so it is priced in rather than discovered later.

Minimums, tooling and lead time

  • Tooling: none, if your model and layout work on our stock recessed shells. That covers most first orders.
  • Quantity: 100 pcs per phone model. Mixed models are fine in one order, each counted separately — see how the 10 pcs minimum actually works.
  • Lead time: days, not weeks, once charms are in hand. A firm date comes with the quote.
  • Your charms: no minimum from us, but send a sample before the run. A charm that is too tall for the recess, or that reacts with the resin, stops the order at step three.

Questions we get before every first order

Can you work from a photo of a case I like?

Yes for the look, no for an exact copy. We will match the concept — recessed layout, charm density, resin depth — but the shell has to be one we mould. If the photo shows a sculpted body we do not hold, that becomes a tooling conversation and we will tell you before you spend anything.

Can I mix charm types in one case?

Yes. Resin flowers, pearls, bows, beads and flat metal pieces can all sit in the same recess. What we need to know is the tallest element, because the recess is 0.6–1.2 mm and anything proud of that changes the construction.

My charm is 3 mm thick. Can you still do it?

Not flush in a standard recess, no — and we will say so rather than ship something that looks wrong. Options are a layered design where the tall piece sits in a cleared area, a different shell, or moving that element onto a printed layer. This is a conversation to have before samples, not after.

Can the case be printed as well as resined?

Yes, and it usually should be. The base colour or pattern goes on first, then the recess is filled. Printing under resin is protected by it, which is one reason these cases survive daily handling better than a bare print.

Will the charms fall out?

Encapsulated charms cannot come out without breaking the resin. That is the strength of the process — and the reason it cannot be repaired either. A damaged unit is replaced, not fixed.

Do you make the charms?

No. We do not source or manufacture decorative parts. You keep that supply chain, your costs and your design ownership. We take over from the moment the parts reach our floor.
